Information or Implementation?

Tuesday, January 9, 2018 10:44 AM
What a great question, which is more important “Information or Implementation?”

Do You Have to Choose?

Actually, no. You need them both, information and implementation if you want to be successful. When I was young and I wanted information I had a few choices, I could ask someone for help, go to the library and hope they had what I was looking for or figure it out on my own. Since that was all I had to choose from I had to figure it out on my own. Very slow, very expensive and in some cases very painful.

A Millionaire on Every Corner

Today there is so much information available on virtually any subject you can think of and most of it is free. With all of this free information, information that I struggled to get when I was younger, you would think that everyone would be a millionaire by now!

What’s Missing?

The missing part is to decide what you want to do, decipher all of the information at hand, build your plan and implement your plan Read that last part again – implement!

So many businesses that we work with have great ideas, brilliant minds to take their ideas from a thought to a product and are going to completely change the world but….

There is no implementation. They don’t know how to go about putting it together and then actually put it to work. How do you go through the steps to get it into the hands of the people you are trying to help? In fact, what are the steps? Where do you begin, what should you be focused on, how do you get going?

On top of not knowing what to do to get it going, the real danger lies in the fact that most businesses will slide back into their old way of doing things. If the way that you were doing things before didn’t get you where you wanted to go why would you think they are going to get you there now?

Where to Start

In our last post we discussed starting out by being extremely clear. That goes here as well. Whatever you are trying to sell whether it is a product or a service you need to be clear about what it does for your prospects and who those prospects are.

Again, going back to our last post we asked a lot of questions that you should have answered by now so that you would be able to implement your plan.

Make It Public

Now that you have your plan and are ready to implement it, get everyone together (if it is just you, get in front of a mirror), provide breakfast or lunch or whatever you can but hold the food until you have finished your announcement.

Go over everything with everyone. In fact if you have employees they should have been part of this already. You should be asking them on a regular basis what they need or would like to see change, etc.

Let everyone know what the plan for the company is at a high level. You don’t need to get into deep specifics but an overview of where you would like to see the company going, how you are going to get there, what it means for everyone, etc.

Now Take It Semi-Private

Now that you made your announcement and have given everyone a bit to digest it, set up meetings with each group within the company. Here is where you want to dive into the specifics. What it’s going to take, how you are going to accomplish your goals and specifically what each person is going to have to do in order to make it happen and when it is to start.

Be Prepared

Be prepared for any fallout that may occur. Some people will be asked to step it up in order to reach your goals and they may not like it, that’s okay. Some people will get on the bus that you are driving and some will get off, that’s okay. Not everyone will buy into your vision and won’t be able to see clearly down the road and of course that’s okay as well but the bus is still going to get on its journey.

Until my next post, I wish you all success!
