Mothers Day

We have been discussing “Money” a lot lately but will make a departure for this post to discuss “Mother’s Day.” Why? First, we should acknowledge all of the hard-working, love-giving, supportive Mom’s out there that have made our lives not only possible but absolutely wonderful and to them I say a big THANK YOU!

There is also another reason that we should discuss Mother’s Day and that is because it is directly related to your success. Yes, you read that right, the way you feel about your mother is directly related to your success. How? Great question that we will dig into right now.

If your mom was a caring, loving and nurturing individual, you will feel a certain way about your mom. On the other hand, if your mom was not like the one we just described you will feel a certain way about your mom as well, albeit your feelings may be a little different and your feelings may be a little negative (or a lot negative depending on your situation. If your mom made you [if you are a male], wear pink underwear growing up, you may not have happy memories, don’t laugh, there are lots of men that are still wearing them – what!!!!!).

You see, all of our attitudes, feelings, paradigms, etc., have an impact on how we treat others. We may be able to hide our feelings to a degree but they will surface somewhere. If we believe we had a great family life growing up, we will look at things relating to families in a positive way. Of course the opposite is true as well.

On this Mother’s Day, think about all of the positive things that you can about your mom and now think of how you can apply this to your business. I realize that if you sell industrial machinery you may be thinking this is impossible and this doesn't apply to you. How wrong you would be!

Sticking with our industrial machinery theme, are all of the customers you call on only made up of men? I doubt it. Think about how you could recognize the woman that work for the companies you are selling to. The receptionists, secretaries, the assistant’s (yes this was a generalization and it may be a bad one, get over it and focus on the point), and more all the way up to the female President and CEO of these companies (just took care of the generalization, what’s ya’ got now?).

You will go a long way towards pushing your competition out the door by recognizing these wonderful, hard-working woman.

What if your customer doesn't allow any gifts to be given to ANY of their employees? You can send them a card, an email, or a note just to recognize them for all they do. How many of your competitor’s are doing this? If you are a woman reading this, ask yourself how many of your suppliers have done this for you? For the men out there that are reading this, have you ever done this and have you ever heard of your competition doing this?

didn't think so which is why you should look at this as the wonderful opportunity this is so take advantage of it, in fact; do it now!

Now that you are thinking and are in the right frame of mind, why not think about how else you could reach out to all of the woman that you encounter along the way and just say thank you for all they do? Keep these thoughts in the forefront of your mind about everyone else as well and think of ways to recognize each group for the contributions they make to society and before long you will be in the forefront of their minds and that is exactly where you want to be.

I hope this helps and you now understand the importance of how you think or feel about others. The way you think about others will directly influence how you interact with them and this interaction will directly influence your level of success.
