What A Powerful Word!
Hate is a really powerful word. Most people today
won’t use the word Hate and in fact will turn ugly in a heartbeat if you use
it. The word Hate is associated with, well… Hate!
Why?
Of course we shouldn’t hate people which is
how this word is used too frequently and like so many other things that can be
good (tryptophan, exercise, broccoli), we turn them into bad things and learn
to hate what is good – pretty ridiculous.
Can Hate Be Good?
What a question! If hate can be good is it
still hate? That’s a brain teaser for you. The fact is that not only can
hate be good, it should be good and we should hate more things and more often!
Are You Kidding?
I know that I have already lost some of you
and no I am not kidding. However think this through for just a bit. If
something bothers me a little, I may or may not try to do something about it.
If it bothers me a lot than I will actively think about and try to do something
about it. But if I absolutely hate something that hatred can be used as the
driving force to do something about it.
What Do You Hate?
Don’t act all high and mighty, all of you hate
something. In a spirit of openness I will share some of the things that I hate:
· *I
hate poverty.
· *I hate to see children (or anyone, but especially children), suffer.
· *I
hate to see people mistreated.
· *I
hate to see people slaving at a job they hate because they are too scared to
try going on their own.
· *I
hate to see animals suffer.
· *I
hate to let my family down (this one is extremely painful for me).
· *I
hate to let my friends down.
· *I
hate to know that someone is hurting and I didn’t do anything about it.
These are just a few of the things I hate.
What does this have to do with
your business?
Make a list of all of the things that you hate. Once
you have this list, figure out which ones you can have an effect on right now.
Which ones could you change or have a significant
impact on if your business was doing better?
If your business was much more profitable, if you
were making much higher margins, if you were growing at an amazing pace, could
you:
*Help
a family afford to buy food?
*Keep
a family in their home rather than seeing them lose their place of safety?
*Pay
for an elderly person’s medicine?
*Pay
for a child’s operation?
* Help
put someone’s children through school?
* Feed
the hungry?
The list is endless.
Hate Is A Good Thing!
Hate can be a good thing when used properly. It is
the improper use of it that has been driving it out of people’s lives and
people are being taught that it is always bad and that is not true. Remember,
if properly used, hate can be good.
