What Should You and Godzilla Have In Common?

Friday, June 13, 2014 10:23 AM
In this post “What Should You and Godzilla Have In Common?” we are going to cover ways that you can increase your customers, grow your sales and become more profitable and successful.

Recently we have been covering a lot of ground so if you haven’t been keeping up please go back and read the posts prior to this to get up to speed as we head down our journey to profitability.

So what should you have in common with Godzilla and what does this have to do with profitability? The two traits that Godzilla shows are persistence (he never quits), and resiliency. What does this have to do with your sales and profits? Great question because it has everything to do with them as you will see shortly.

Many of the businesses that we work with do a great job of making their products or offering their services along with either their own products or products from other manufacturers. As they are trying to sell these items and make the world aware of how wonderful these offerings are, they will most likely take a few hits along the way and get some bumps and bruises.

All businesses get into tight spots from time to time and they will have to figure a way around them. If you are resilient and determined, you will find your way around these problems. If you are not and you are thin-skinned, well, you may end up with an unpleasant outcome.

However, if you are resilient AND persistent, you may have a pleasant outcome and live the life you have been dreaming about. You see, being persistent is half the battle; most people give up way too early. History books are full of stories of people that quit right before striking gold or right before they have their huge breakthrough.

If you have been reading our posts you may recall a statistic or two, how about this one:

  • 48% of all salespeople quit after the first attempt!
  • Most sales are made after the 5th attempt!
This can be either good news or bad news depending on which side of this you are on. It’s great news if you are resilient and persistent like our friend Godzilla. If you are the kind of person that gives up easily, well, thanks for making it easier for the rest of us – we owe you lunch!

We will all need to adjust our plans along the way but giving up is not part of the equation.  So now you must ask yourself a question, am I smarter and tougher than a fictional movie character that goes by the name Godzilla (what is wrong with his parents picking that name?!), or am I going to be like most and give up on my dreams? Am I willing to learn how to be better at this and be the winner I was created to be or…..…? The choice is yours.
