Why People Hate Sales
Why is it that so many people hate sales and
salespeople? Because many “salespeople” don’t know anything about sales. The
sales training of the past taught people to hammer at their prospect until they
wore them down enough to make the sale – how ridiculous and terrible this is!
But I Already Know How To Sell
You may think that you already know sales and
couldn’t get any better but I would caution you here. I have interviewed,
worked with, trained, hired and unfortunately fired countless “salespeople”
over the years that “knew how to sell.” Actually, they knew how to talk but
talking and selling are completely different things.
How Do You Become A Great
Salesperson?
Start with the right foundation. If you want to be
great in sales you must first have a desire to truly help people. People have
problems and they want their problems solved. They reach out to someone to
solve their problem and a sale is made; a pretty clear path that many view
through mud goggles.
Is It Their Training?
Training is a big issue but most salespeople never
have ANY kind of good, solid,
formal sales training. They are “gifted” and a “natural” so they are
automatically labeled as great salespeople. Unfortunately this just isn’t true,
they may have a natural talent for sales but just like everything else, you
need a good coach to bring out the best in you. Because someone has the innate
abilities to become a great surgeon would you want them to operate on you
without going through med school?
So What Do You Do?
Get out your pencil and paper and get ready to start
